A working party has been formed to review the membership categories

SAILING SUBCOMMITTEE REPORT

Guidelines outlining the purpose and procedure for using the Squadron boat will be included in the next magazine and placed on the Squadron website

The Kay Cottee Cup and 3 Humps Race won’t be run next year as we are cutting back to manage the work load of our few volunteers who take a leadership role in the many events that we run.

MOTOR BOAT & ANGLING SUBCOMMITTEE REPORT

The Committee approved fishing in the marina on January 6 for the Kids Fishing in Marina/Sausage Sizzle event

COMMUNICATION & PROMOTION REPORT

The Committee intends to make greater use of email to communicate with members – and particularly to disseminate the Quarterly magazine. As from next year the Quarterly will be sent to members via email, as well as being placed on our website. Every member with an email address will receive their copy via email, and those without email will continue to receive their copy via post. The advantages of distributing the magazine this way include: much reduced cost to produce and mail it out; much reduced volunteer time in assembling the mail out; a shorter time-frame in which to get information to members; and, less environmental waste

BUILDING SUBCOMMITTEE REPORT

Water is leaking down from the outside balcony into the lower level. This will be attended to

SAFETY OFFICER’S REPORT

A meeting will be held with Rick McKay from San Remo Fire Brigade on December 19 to continue to review our Emergency Management policies and procedures and infrastructure enhancement program

Contact will be made with Parks Victoria in relation to a strategy to overcome the difficulty of sighting the lead poles into the marina when the sun is setting behind them

SOCIAL SUBCOMMITTEE REPORT

The Golden Oldies Day was a great success with all guests and members being very appreciative the dinner

3 bar tables and 12 stools are to be purchased and placed near the northern windows

GENERAL BUSINESS

The Committee is reviewing and documenting Committee members’ roles; and is also reviewing criteria for community use of the Squadron’s facilities

The Committee is eager to re-introduce the concept of the Officer Of the Day model that was operating some years ago. This person is the NYS representative who does such things as welcoming and assisting visitors, supporting members as required, and carries out tasks like raising and lowering the flags.
Initially, Committee members will be rostered on during the forthcoming December-January period. It is anticipated that other members will also be rostered on to this role to enable the service to be extended throughout the boating season – and that other members may even volunteer to assist during the December-January period

The NYS By-Laws book (white one) is being reviewed and updated. This will be emailed to members and placed on the website

A database of members’ skills and expertise that they can offer to assist with projects is being compiled

The new portable public address system has been purchased, and worked extremely well for the Sailability Dinghy Shed opening
