BUILDING SUBCOMMITTEE REPORT

New shelves to be installed in the bar

MARINA SUBCOMMITTEE REPORT

The Committee expressed its shock at hearing that Jeff and Jackie Shawcroft lost their home to fire during the week. Obviously, work on sheet piling will now have to wait until Geoff is able to find time to resume his work on this proposal.
Also, we are still waiting for Council to attend an onsite discussion of our proposals.

SOCIAL SUBCOMMITTEE REPORT

Presentation night went very well.

Our Saturday night dinners (2nd Saturday of the month) continue to grow in attendance.

SAILING SUBCOMMITTEE REPORT

Great presentation night for sailors and fishos. Thank you to all who volunteered during the season.

Winter race schedule – started mid May 17 with 9 yachts participating

Safety certificates have been completed. Thanks to Mary for clarifying and simplifying the forms.

MOTOR BOAT & ANGLING REPORT

Fishing competitions have finished for the season. Looking at a review of the rules to encourage catch and release

TRAINING OFFICER’S REPORT

VHF radio course to be held on Sunday, July 16, 2017.

Safety Boat Operator Course: Westernport Yacht Club will conduct a 2-day Safety Boat Operator Course for our members on October 7 & 8. The cost for participants is likely to be in the vicinity of $250. The Committee agreed to subsidise those volunteers willing to go onto a roster for Sailability and other NYS boating activities so that they pay only $75.00.

GRANT OFFICER’S REPORT

We were one of the successful applicants of the recent Bass Coast Shire Phillip Island Community Benefit Fund Grant round. We received $25,000 toward the purchase of three Hansa 303 Wide dinghies. These three dinghies will complete our desired fleet of four Hansas. Our thank you to Bass Coast Shire.

SAFETY OFFICER’S REPORT

Pleased to report a 100% return for Safety Certificates (after some members finally responded to follow up actions by Vicky and Peter)

BOATING SECRETARY’S REPORT

Unfortunately, some events were cancelled due to bad weather; however we had a vibrant season

CLUB MERCHANDISE

New merchandise has now been delivered and is now available for sale

SAILABILITY REPORT

There has been a hold up in building of the shed due to heavy rains. Crushed rock needs to be deposited after slush is removed.
