MARINA SUBCOMMITTEE REPORT
The subcommittee is researching the possibility of piggy-backing the 2 outlets on the power towers so that each tower would be able to service 4 boats at once instead of just 2
The electrical upgrade for the maintenance yard and connection to the Sailability Dinghy Shed has been completed. Replacement of concrete to the trench and concreting of the remainder of the floor in the shed in the yard corner is being arranged
The rule not to allow boats to power onto the trailer when retrieving at the ramp still remains
A new winch cable and tow rope has been fitted to the yard tractor; and wheel bearings have been replaced on the motor boat cradle
BUILDING SUBCOMMITTEE REPORT
The club house air conditioners have been serviced and required spare parts have been ordered
An electrical inspection will be carried out on power and lighting in the club house
A members’ workshop will be setup in the northern end of the Sailability Dinghy Shed for members to access and use as a workspace
COMMUNICATION & PROMOTION REPORT
A proposed Communication & Promotion Strategy was submitted to the Committee to be discussed at the next meeting
The deadline for articles for the autumn edition of the Quarterly magazine was scheduled for Sunday, March 11
SAFETY OFFICER’S REPORT
The Safety Officer brought to the Committee’s attention that there are no ‘man overboard’ ladders along the North Arm. These ladders, which exist along the South and Central Arms, are for people who inadvertently fall into the water to use to climb out. The Committee resolved to place ladders along the North Arm
SOCIAL SUBCOMMITTEE REPORT
12 bar stools and 3 tables have been purchased to be located along the northern windows of the club house; and additional new tables and chairs for the outside balcony will be purchased
Peter Evans, a round-the-world sailor, will be a guest speaker at the Second Saturday of the Month Happy Hour on April 14
TRAINING OFFICER’S REPORT
A planning proposal for 2018 was submitted to the Committee to be discussed at the next meeting
SAILABILITY REPORT
We have conducted 2 sessions so far this season hosting Bass Coast Specialist School and conducting an introduction to the Hansa dinghies on land (due to poor weather), and Interchange with the participants going sailing and fishing
GENERAL BUSINESS
The revised By-Laws will be emailed to members and placed on the Squadron website
There was discussion about planning for possible future directions for the Squadron. The information gained from members during the Future Planning process undertaken in 2016 was reviewed and progress considered. It was acknowledged that much had been achieved. The Committee recognised the need for further action in regard to future planning and will continue to consider options / needs; and intends to continue to seek membership input in this endeavour
