Dear NYS Members,
We are all in unprecedented times with the outbreak of COVID-19 and with it comes uncertainty, worry, and fear. At the club we are taking conscientious steps to make certain that we keep our membership safe, we have cancelled for the time being all NYS events given the escalating pandemic. The Government’s advice is changing daily, but it does not alter our obligation to minimise any potential threat to our members, some of whom are seniors with medical conditions susceptible to the virus.
The latest direction from our State Government is that all non-essential activities/places be closed, in line with this direction the clubhouse will be closed from Monday 23 March 2020 until further notice.
Members should adhere to current guidelines relating to social distancing. Whereas members may occasionally need to check their vessels in the marina, there is no need to risk our members health by meeting in our club rooms. I urge all to act responsibly with regards to this current pandemic.
The best site if you are uncertain of what the government and health experts are recommending is Health.gov.au
In my personal case I have decided to self-isolate as best I can, which is a recommendation by the health authorities. We are concerned for some of our older members, particularly those who are on their own or feel isolated; if you need help or feel distressed by this situation we are only a phone call away and please ring if you need to discuss any issues or need some help. My number is 0407 045 525.
Your Committee will continue to monitor the situation and make decisions accordingly in the best interest of the club and its members.
I wish all our members and their families good health and safety during this difficult time. I believe given time this situation will pass, and we will get back to some sense of normality, but it could take some months.
All the very best,
PLEASE NOTE: All events listed on our Facebook page and website are postponed until further notice.
