Introduction to Racing Information Session

This Introduction to Racing information session will be hosted by Chris Wilson and Matt Draper after the Winter Series Race 6.

Chris is the Squadron Rear Commodore and participated in the 2018 Melbourne to Osaka two-handed race, skippering his Beneteau 47.7 yacht, Elektra. Chis has had a full racing career, beginning his sailing here at NYS as a Junior, and going on to achieve Club Champion.

Matt is the current Victorian and Australian Impulse dinghy champion; and has just competed in the flying Dutchman World titles in New Zealand, finishing in the top 10. He has been sailing since he was seven, winning his first Newhaven Yacht Squadron Dinghy Championship with his grandfather when he was eight. He is a NYS member and on the Boating Subcommittee.

If you are interested in learning more about – and participating in – off-the-beach and/or keel boat racing, this is an excellent opportunity to do so.

If you wish to try out crewing on a yacht, come along and introduce yourself to initiate this happening. You will be most welcome.
